Easy Tomato Sauce

Our Easy Tomato Sauce is the delicious, quick, and simple sauce you need for the perfect pizza or pasta.

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onion (about 1/2 medium yellow onion)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 14-1/2 ounce cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper


  • Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the onion and saute until translucent (about 3-5 minutes), then add the garlic and red pepper flakes. Saute for one minute and stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute. Stir in the tomatoes, salt, oregano, thyme, and pepper. Raise heat to medium-high and bring to a simmer, stirring often. Simmer for 5 minutes, then blend with an immersion blender or transfer to a stand blender and carefully blend until smooth.
  • Use immediately on pizza or pasta. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where it will keep for 1-2 weeks. The sauce can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
